ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS

GTA WEST / NIAGARA GTA EA

The Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe identifies major transportation corridors through Niagara Region to Halton and from Halton to York Region. These studies are presently being completed by a consulting team including AECOM, McCormick Rankin, URS and Ecoplans. Meridian is acting as the socio-economic consultants on both of these major EA studies. Meridian has been responsible for collecting current land use information, compiling Regional and Local Official Plan data through both large study areas and creating development constraint mapping combining environmental, land use designations and built-up areas. Meridian is also keeping up to date mapping of development proposals in the area.

ORC WEST

Meridian Planning Consultants Inc. managed a team of seven subconsultants through an intensive approvals process (including public consultation and agency review) to obtain planning permissions for approximately 16.2 hectares (40 acres) of lands in the Winston Park West Employment Area in the Town of Oakville. These lands were identified by the Town, Region and the ORC Study Team as ideal for Employment Uses. In addition to project management, Meridian coordinated a Land Use Concept, prepared a Planning Justification Report, filed planning applications and coordinated the public consultation and agency review processes. Meridian has been retained to manage a similar team and project for land in North Oakville on Burnhamthorpe Road.
